In choosing a fit-out contractor it is vital to look at their various certifications and figure out what you will need from their services. Choosing the right office fit-out specialist will help you to carry through the plans for your office renovation from conception right through to the finished product, so it is essential to find the contractor that is qualified to meet your needs.

A number of industry qualifications can show you the measure of a company, so ask to see whether they can tick any of the following boxes:

  • Can they show you case studies of their previous client work?
  • Do they have any BREEAM licensed assessors working in their company? Do they have any LEED assessors (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification system)?
  • Do they have sufficient company quality management systems in place?
  • Are they part of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents?
  • Do they have adequate provision in their Health and Safety department?
  • What insurance policies do they have available for clients?
  • Do they have a record of any safety incidents that they can show you?
  • What construction skills do they have under their belt and do they have a skills certification scheme?

Whichever company you choose, ask them to provide written documentation and proof of their certifications. Any reputable fit-out company will be happy to provide you with adequate supporting evidence.
