Birmingham Big City Plan promising for office movers
The 'Big City Plan' for Birmingham shares plans for the second phase
Those considering an office move to Birmingham could be about to capitalise on an excellent relocation opportunity as their long-running development scheme unveils its second phase. The 'Big City Plan', as it is called, is a twenty year development initiative to shake up the prime Midlands business location and create a new centre for companies in the city. Crossing nearly 800 hectares, the scheme to create new office space amid a retail, culture and leisure complex could be a considerable addition to the city scape if it comes to fruition. Employment rates have been rumoured to expect a boost when around 50,000 new jobs are made available through the development alone. The office space is expected to be built in skyscraper blocks, which will herald a modern new age for Birmingham businesses.
The scheme has been described as “the most ambitious and far-reaching citywide development project ever undertaken in the UK” and the plans are hoped to make Birmingham a rival for the strong office markets in both London and Manchester. With phase two being announced, the plan to create 1.5m sq m of multi-use space is expected to generate considerable interest in the city for companies looking to break out of the high prices associated with the capital. With excellent transport connections to both Manchester and Birmingham, as well as locations such as Leeds and Liverpool, it seems likely that the Birmingham economy will have much to celebrate when the doors are finally opened.
