Green Works: Donating your unwanted office furniture to a good cause
Do something good with your old office desks and storage by using a recycling charity
In an office overhaul, one of the main things you’ll be juggling is what furniture to take on to your new place and what furniture to ditch. Thankfully, there are fantastic initiatives out there that can take your no longer needed office bits and pieces and distribute them to needy causes.
Green Works is just one of these organisations that retrieves furniture, not only to help the environment, but to recycle it so that others can get something out of it. With over 500,000 tonnes of furniture finding their way to UK landfill sites every year, it is important that offices dispose of their waste in a responsible and sustainable way.
The company passes the used furniture on at low cost prices to charities, schools, nurseries and playschools. They also have an in-house joinery team who create bespoke pieces salvaged from furniture parts, so virtually nothing is wasted.
More than 60,000 tonnes of furniture have already been rescued by the team at Green Works and many charities and new businesses have managed to work around their tight budgets by taking up second-hand furniture.
So if your company has old furniture to get rid of during your office move, think about whether your junk could improve the lives of others and be given a second chance.
