Keeping proactive in your office move: Microsoft shares moving office advice
Microsoft Business Centre shares tips on how to ‘stay productive’ during your move
Moving your workplace can be an incredibly stressful procedure, but it needn’t be with careful preparation. Microsoft Business Centre’s Christopher Elliot has come to rescue to share a number of office relocation tips that can help you to stay afloat when moving day arrives.
1. There’s no such thing as too much planning – Elliot’s advice is “leave nothing to chance”. If your office, like so many, is dependent on computer networks or other such equipment, then it is important to inventory down to the last cable.
2. Expect the unexpected – packing away something you need will inevitably lead to a last minute rush to the nearest shop in order to replace it. Try to predict the items and equipment you will need and keep them accessible right up until the final hour.
3. Don’t be down over down time – businesses will experience lulls when the moving momentum takes over, so don’t take it as a shortfall in your own management. Stay level-headed and anticipate delays to interfere with the usual running. In getting your company back on its feet, communication with your workforce and your clients is the most important thing. Clients will be gracious if they understand the reason for any limited service.
Keeping a cool head and being super-organised are desirable traits to bring to any company, so why not bring apply the same logic to your office relocation? You’ll be glad you did!
