New iPhone app calculates office space requirements
A new app for the iPhone will allow occupiers to calculate how much office space they need
People are becoming increasingly reliant on their iPhone apps to carry out all sorts of tasks from counting up their weekly shopping budgets to learning new languages, but now a new app has been released that could help companies to calculate just how much office space they need when moving to a new workplace.
The H2SO Office Space Calculator (also known as OSCA) has been developed to help office occupiers to figure out the space they need and work out how much their facilities will occupy in square feet. Now that square feet is the key measurement for those taking up new offices, it is important that companies searching for offices can accurately assess their needs and convert the desks, workstations, meeting room areas, storage and reception areas they will require into square feet. The app is available for free from the App Store for iPhones and has been designed as a way to make this totting up process simpler.
Spokesman for the Office Space Calculator Ed Betts commented, “It’s a necessary convention that offices to let are marketed on the basis of how much space is available in terms of square feet. However, many occupiers – particularly those sourcing a workplace for the first time – do not have a feel for what square footage equates to in terms of their operational needs.”
