East Midlands based DSP (Interiors) Ltd were appointed to orchestrate the office space planning, design and fit out for the office relocation of accountancy and business advisory firm Smith Cooper’s Nottingham office.
DSP Interiors worked with Smith Cooper from the early stages of the office design project to set out a ‘office space wish list’ and develop a workplace appraisal. DSP also took a lead role in advising the client on issues of office lease negotiation and the logistics of the office relocation.
With office space requirements, staff numbers, storage needs and so on established, it was then necessary to assess the suitability of the premises. A particular challenge was the sub-division of the existing units, the undulating site and consequent difference in levels. Another major challenge was incorporating all fit out works within a controlled moving office budget and tight timescales.
Taking into account the various requirements, all spaces were mapped out within the constraints of the building footprint. The office design integrates the spaces seamlessly, incorporating the level differences within flowing circulation spaces. DSP worked hard to develop the ideas into a working office design that included:
- A ‘wow-factor’ entrance reception area
- High-end client meeting rooms
- Extensive boardroom training facility
- Partner enclosed offices and open plan workspaces
- Extensive ‘back-of-house’ workspaces including storage facility
- Washrooms, breakout and ancillary spaces
The interior office design scheme reflects the nature of the clientele blending contemporary design with traditional finishes. Acoustics were also high on the agenda given the sensitivity of client confidentiality; acoustic partitions, quilting and flooring treatment was integrated throughout crucial areas. As a KRC contractor DSP worked closely with Komfort Workspace to specify their Polar acoustic double glazed vision partitions, acoustic stud & track partitions and American Walnut doors & frames.
