Anyone who's ever moved house or moved an office before knows how chaotic the actual moving day can be. You're up to your eyes in boxes, removals men are coming in and out, whilst you run like a  headless chicken around trying to be in two locations at once. Sound familiar?!

By doing some basic, but essential prior planning before the big office move day, it will enable you to not only keep calm, but will also ensure that the transition from one location to another is seamless:

  • Establish a colour-code system for boxes and files.  These are best organised by office or department so they can be directly off-loaded from the Office Removals van straight to it's correct location.
  • Agree and communicate your new Office Floor Plan with your Office Removals Company.  This isn't just a case of giving them a copy of the Office Space Plan, you'll need to sit down with them and explain it so they understand where each department is located and where to locate communal areas. 
  • Print a telephone contact list of all key contacts and suppliers and keep it easily accessible on move day.  This should include telecom vendors, electricians, building security personnel and lift engineers,
  • Draw up a rota of who will be where and when.  If you are moving during a working business day, staff will need to know what is expected of them and whethere there is a temporary workstation they can use.  It's also advisable to have a supervisor at both locations who is familar with the office floor plan and can direct the Office Removals Company during the relocation.
  • Set up a lost property at both locations. There's bound to be items that get lost or mislaid so if there's a central point for such items they can all be claimed after the move.
