Office Removals – hints & tips
Tips for a smooth Office Move
Moving your office belongings from A to B is a huge task, and is justifiably known as one of the most stressful things a business can undertake. But with careful planning, your office move doesn’t need to be stressful or cause too much disruption. Follow these five tips for a smooth and stress-free office move:
Tip 1: Start planning early
The importance of starting your planning early cannot be over-stated. There is a lot to get done and you will need the time to weigh up your options and make the right decisions. Use a “To Do” list and keep important information and quotes together in a file. This Office Removals Checklist will help prepare you for the move day and lists all the tasks you need to do to ensure your move goes smoothly.
Tip 2: Choose the right removal company
It is essential to work with a professional removals company who can rely on to take control of all the packing and transporting your things to the new office. Get at least three quotes and go with the company who you feel is suited to your move. Make sure they have experience in business relocations and can fit around your intended relocation timeframe.
Tip 3: Arrange a packing schedule
Don’t leave packing to the last minute. Instead, work out a packing schedule with your removals company. This is particularly important if you are moving on a weekday where you literally have a day to pack up and set up in your new office. If you have a large amount of files, you may benefit from staging your packing so that some of the items that you don’t need on a regular basis can be packed prior to the move.
Tip 4: Communicate with all parties involved
There will be several organisations and parties involved in the move who will need to be kept in the loop about your moving schedule. Your staff too will need to be kept up to date so that they can arrange their work around the move and ensure that their desk items are packed into a crate and their IT equipment clearly labeled.
Tip 5: Organise your IT Relocation
Moving your computers and phones from one location to another will require you to think carefully about your IT installation. You will need to install your phone points and network cables in the new office so that they correspond with your space plan. This will minimise downtime and reduce any stress when you come to installing the new equipment. For more hints and tips to make your office move run smoothly, download the Office Removals Checklist.
